Angels’ Atlas & Serenade
November 11-21, 2021
Angels’ Atlas was created by Canadian choreographer Crystal Pite for The National Ballet of Canada in March 2020 to ecstatic reviews. The ballet unravels against a distorting wall of light that conveys the illusion of profundity and a feeling of the natural world. Here, the moving body turns into an indication of humankind's temporariness and – similarly – its imperativeness inside a tremendous, mysterious world. Set to original music by Owen Belton and choral pieces by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and Morten Lauridsen, Angels’ Atlas is a profound new work from one of the world’s leading contemporary choreographers.
